Privacy, data sources and removals
This site republishes entries from public business registers. If you run one of the businesses listed and want your entry corrected or removed, ask — we act on requests without argument and without asking you to justify them.
How to object or request removal
Email removals@petcareindex.co.uk with the business name and the page address. Say whether you want:
- the whole entry removed, or
- the address removed but the licence record kept, or
- a correction to something that is wrong.
We do not require a reason, we do not ask you to prove a detriment, and we do not route it through a form designed to discourage you. Removals are recorded against your licence number, so a later refresh of the council data cannot quietly bring the entry back — an objection that expires at the next data import is not an objection.
Note that we are not the source. Removing an entry here does not remove it from the council register, Companies House or the ICO register; those bodies each have their own process, and we link to the original entry on every page so you can find it.
What we publish, and where it comes from

Lawful basis
Most of this is information about businesses rather than personal data. Where an entry does identify an individual — a sole trader trading under their own name, or operating from a residential address — we rely on legitimate interests: the interest of someone choosing who will look after their animal in knowing who is licensed, how they were rated, and where the business operates from.
A legitimate interests basis carries a balancing test, and the safeguards we apply against it are: we publish only what a public register already publishes; we never publish an address a council chose to withhold; we state the source and the date for every field; we make no claim we have not checked; and we honour objections on request rather than on assessment. If you object, we remove — we do not weigh your objection against our interest first.
You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk if you are unhappy with how we have handled a request.
What we deliberately do not do
- We do not publish an address the licensing council withheld, and we do not use another register to reconstruct one.
- We do not present unconfirmed register matches as fact. A company with a similar name is not evidence, and appears only in internal review.
- We do not blend a council star rating with reviews, ratings, or any score of our own. The rating is the regulator's and is shown as theirs.
- We do not accept payment to change, improve, or remove an entry.
- We do not host reviews of these businesses, so there is nothing to defame you with.

This site sets no cookies, runs no client-side JavaScript, embeds nothing from third parties, and has no analytics or advertising on it at present. If that changes this page will change first.
